In 1994, the PCC of Whitton and Pilleth began to look into the question of funding to restore St. Mary’s. The Friends of Pilleth was formed to help raise funds. In 2002 the Heritage Lottery Fund agreed the plans and allocated a most generous grant. The final cost of the work was £312,000 and the Friends of Pilleth have been responsible for raising 25%.

The restoration of St Mary’s Church Pilleth, 2002–04, was made possible by the generosity and hard work of a great many people.
